SITUATION

You have just arrived at a hotel in Alicante.You are taken to your room and you find that the hotel has given you a small single room with no bathroom.What´s more,the room has no balcony and only a small window facing the car park at the back of the hotel.This is very different from what was promised on the website where you made your booking: a double room with en suite bathroom and a balcony overlooking the beach.

Make a telephone call to the hotel duty manager.Explain the situation and demand the room that you reserved.

SITUATION 2

You are living and working in New York on a two-year assignment.You are living with your family in an apartment building near the city centre.Your neighbours seem very friendly and welcoming however,you have a problem with the elderly lady who lives in the apartment above yours.In the first place,when she waters the plants on her balcony the water ends up on your balcony dirtying the washing hung on your line.In the second place,the lady has the television so loud that you and your family find it hard to even have a conversation.

SITUATION 3

You arrive at Los Angeles International Airport and get held up at customs.You are taken to small room to be interrogated.You have recently been making many trips to Cuba because of your job.The officer begins asking you about all the countries you have visited over the last 5 years and what your motives were for visiting each country.As you travelled a lot,you have some difficulty remembering exact travel dates.You must give as much information as possible to the agents but also explain to them why you are unable to answer some of their questions.
