PRESENT PASSIVE/PAST SIMPLE PASSIVE



We use Present Passive when we don´t know who does an action,or when the action is more important than the person who does it.
Some examples.
The ties are made from the best silk.
The plates are washed and put away.
Tuna fish is sold in cans.
Water is sold in bottles
People make cars from the steel.(active)The cars are made from the steel.(passive).
A person makes suits from the best wool.The suits are made from the best wool.
People make furniture from the wood.The furniture is made from the wood.
Think of some examples and say it loudly.
Now let´s talk about Past Simple Passive.
Use the Past Passive when you don´t know who did an action,or when the action was more important than the person who did it.Also.
In a passive sentence,we can say what happened without saying who did it,because the person who did the action isn´t important,we don´t know who did the action.
Was-singular noun in subject position;
Were-plural noun in subject position,
and we use past participle as verb form;
Examples:
We were told to meet downstairs.
He was given a hotel suite to sleep in-Was he given a place to sleep?
We were given an hour for breakfast.
How long were you given to finish the homework?
I was invited to Paris.
I was met at the railway station.
